Studies on Euproctics Flava Dermatitis



Abstract
The following results were obtained through the clinical survey conducted on 40 cases suffered from dermatitis ex Euproctis subflava which prevailed in Taegu area during the period of June through September 1972.
1. The kinds of poisonous butterfly collected in Taegu area were proved to be Euproctis subflava, Lymantria dispar Linne and Cnidocampa fiavescens Walker, of Which E. subflava was the majority.
2. There was no significant differences in age and sex but most of the cases were found among the families who were engaged in evening work.
3. Contact course was directly with poisonous butterfly or by intervention of clothing. Generally it was contacted early in the morning and evening.
4. An incubation period estimated approximately 15 minutes.
5. Main eruptions of dermatitis consisted of multiple follicular papules and urticaria accompanying sensations of burning and itching which were severe in the early stage.
6. Exposed area including neck, chest, arms and legs was the site of predilection except the face.
7. An instance of occurrence was mostly within the family.
